But when I lived in the UK, I mentioned to someone that even after a year there, I still had a hard time saying "toilet" instead of "restroom" because "toilet" sounds really rude in America. One of my lovely, extremely polite British friends shook her head and said, "Does that mean you don't tell people you're going to go have a 'wee' either?" How do you even answer that?! But you have to admit, the Brits have us beat when it comes to ordering food. No "I'll have a burger," for them. It's got to be something along the lines of, "Is there any way I could I possibly just get a burger please???"
